Office 365 E3 vs Microsoft 365 Business Premium: What’s the difference?

Office 365 E3 is a cloud-based suite of apps that includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft 365 Business Premium brings together everything you know in Office 365 plus advanced remote access, security, and device management capabilities. It’s one solution that has all that you need to run and grow your business while having peace of mind that your information is protected.

The added security features in the Microsoft 365 Business Premium plan include Advanced Threat Protection and Identity management, device and application management including Intune and Windows 10 Pro upgrade rights, and Information protection features like Data Loss Protection and Azure Information Protection P1.

These added Business Premium features allow you to:

Provide the right people with the right access to work apps using Azure AD. Enable secure remote desktop access with Windows Virtual Desktop.

Protect against cyber threats and data loss – Protect against malicious links in email or Teams with real-time scanning using ATP Safe Links. Defend against impersonation and spoofing with ATP anti-phishing. Prevent sharing of sensitive information like credit card numbers using preconfigured DLP policy templates for HIPAA, PCI DSS, SSN, etc. Control whether an email can be forwarded, printed, or viewed by non-employees. Control whether a document can be edited, printed or viewed by non-employees.

Easily secure and manage devices – As employees work from multiple locations, and use both personal and company-owned devices, you need a way to manage and secure these devices and data. With Microsoft Intune, you can manage PCs and mobile devices to ensure that your data is safeguarded. With Defender and Intune, you can require automatic updates on all your Windows 10 devices, enforce Microsoft Defender protection against malware, and require the use of BitLocker encryption to prevent unauthorized access.

PREREQUISITES

Office 365 Premium Beta

  • Make sure that you have disabled caching for your Website in case your website is an intranet and access to WP Admin and all pubished pages and posts requires authentication. With caching enabled, the plugin may not work as expected
  • We have tested our plugin with WordPress >= 4.8.1 and PHP >= 5.6.40
  • You need to be (Office 365) Tenant Administrator to configure both Azure Active Directory and the plugin
  • You may want to consider restricting access to the otherwise publicly available wp-content directory
